The Project H Girls Garage has officially opened its doors to a brand new group of after-school participants.. If the first week is any indication, the Garage is going to be a place of non-stop activity, inspiration, and creativity.
On Monday, a small group of girls attended a Community Design/Build class in which they built projects for the new space and community clients. They kicked off the week by making concrete vases to keep and donate.
On Tuesday, the metal class learned about the science of metal and hammered stainless steel wire into one community necklace.
On Wednesday, the screenprint class learned how the process of screenprinting works, and pulled their first squeegees to make a series of graphic prints.
On Thursday, the introduction to carpentry class began designing wooden spoons, which they will cut, chisel and file starting next week.
The Girls Garage is full of every tool you can imagine, including Lenovo workstations to help the participants master their designs and bring their visions to life.
