In both April and May of this year, the Trojan Horse was a Unicorn community, this passionate tight-knit group referred to as The Tribe, gathered to hear from some greatly respected artists.
At the end of April, the Tribe got together in Berlin to hear from Karla Ortiz, Andre Luis, and Mike Hill. They inspired and provoked, take a look at the who’s who from the #THUMeetups:
Karla Ortiz is an award winning artist who works in both concept and fine art. She’s worked for several large studios as a concept artist (Marvel Film Studios and Industrial Light & Magic) and had her fine art put on display in amazing galleries around the world (Studio Gallery SF and Safehouse Studios).
Mike Hill is a concept designer based in Berlin who works in media and entertainment.
“If you don’t have [the] foundational elements, then your bridge collapses, and your surface – regardless of its materials – looks broken and no one can travel across it. And it’s the same with a story.”
In the beginning of May the Tribe met again in Helsinki where they had the opportunity to hear from Lauri Manninen. Lauri is a Game Art specialist at #Supercell – yes, those awesome guys who created Clash of Clans and Clash Royale! At the Helsinki meet up Manninen shared how Supercell brings its house-made characters on the big screens.
And, of course, the fearless leader of the tribe, Andre Luis, spoke at both meetups. Following THU 2016 in Tróia, the Tribe will reconvene in other cities around the world. We will be sure to share more news on these global meetups! And keep an eye on the THU website for the latest Tribe updates!
